Worthing High School

Email sent 2nd Sept 21 to all parents/carers

As we prepare for our return to school next week, I wanted to write to you with a few reminders for the start of term.

Face coverings

Under the current guidelines we do not have to wear face coverings in lessons or communal areas, but those students and staff who wish to wear a face covering may continue to do so.

All students should have a face covering as part of their school equipment, and in the event that we have any significant outbreaks we may revert back to wearing face coverings, if appropriate and guided by advice from Public Health England and the NHS.

GCSE Results

Our results this year were as we had forecast/predicted with students, and I am exceptionally proud of our Class of 2021, in how they were successful and have managed to continue their next part of their education journey.

Our focus will now be on the current Year 11s and preparing them for their examinations in the summer of 2022.  . Our Progress 8 score of +0.44 is a fantastic outcome and testament to the hard work and resilience shown by all students and staff, in what we will all recognise was a very testing and challenging year

Return to school

Year 7 students return on Monday 6th September. Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 return on Tuesday 7th September.

It has been a long summer and we are excited and keen to welcome our new Year 7 students and previous year groups back. We ask that you continue to lateral flow test twice a week. Our school has had some of the lowest infection rates, and I am certain that our testing regime managed to keep many of our students in school with face to face teaching.

Please can I ask you to support your child and the school by continuing the testing, especially as we return back to some “normality”.

Covid 19 – Lateral Flow Testing

Most of the school recommenced home Lateral Flow Testing yesterday (Wednesday) and test results have been uploaded to Test Register. We have a great take up rate for home testing and we would like to thank you all for continuing to support this important element of our risk management.

Students, who have opted into our testing programme, are expected to complete 2 tests a week and their second is due on Sunday 5th September by 8pm. They should then test weekly on a Wednesday and Sunday and upload their results by 8pm. If you have any problems uploading results please just email your child’s name and test result to hometest@worthinghigh.net and we will load them for you.

For those students who are completing their first 2 tests in school (this is the majority of Y7 plus some students in Y8-Y11) the date for your first home test is a little different:

·         2nd test on Wednesday 1st Sept or Thursday 2nd Sept. – first home test due on Sunday 5th September

·         2nd Test on Monday 6th Sept – first home test due on Wednesday 8th September

·         2nd Test on Wednesday 8th Sept – first home test due on Sunday 12th September

Please see our dedicated Testing Support page if you need more support:
